Technical Hosting Support Engineer: World Host Group

 We are looking for a Technical Hosting Support Engineer.

Job Description:

In this role, you should be a keen problem solver, and have a good level of written and spoken English. The role primarily involves helping clients and prospective clients use our hosting service, answering technical queries mainly through support tickets and live chat. We use a standard hosting stack comprising cPanel, Linux, Apache, MySQL, and PHP so experience with these technologies is crucial. The majority of the sites we host will run a CMS like WordPress, so experience from a user or management perspective of WordPress is also desirable. Systems administration experience is not required but would be a big plus as you could take on more senior responsibilities and also handle server alerts. You may need to take the occasional phone call.

Tasks you will be expected to be comfortable with:

1. Accessing a Linux server with SSH
2. Minimal D3/S1
3. 1 years experience
4. Using common command line tools, like grep, vi/nano, chmod/chown. htaccess files, rewrite rules, IP blocking
5. Basic PHP scripting and syntax, php.ini configuration variables
6. MySQL connection strings, basic SQL syntax, and common error messages
7. Identifying and diagnosing server performance problems (CPU, iowait, swap)
8. Migrating websites manually between servers
9. Managing DNS and nameservers.

We do provide training to perform the above-mentioned tasks. This job requires a full-time presence in our office so the candidate will need to live in Bali or be willing to relocate to Bali. This role may sometimes require late or night shifts, for which we provide a complementary bonus.
